You don’t want to miss the FCCMA 2014 Annual Conference. Below are two of the sessions that will be held at the conference.
Khalid Resheidat, P.E., Assistant City Manager, New Smyrna Beach will speak about the “Successful Use of Citizen Task Force.” The New Smyrna Beach Task Force is a program that brings citizens together for a specific amount of time to discuss one large issue in the city. The community has held the program three times since 2010 to gain feedback on its budget, sports complex and parking. Come hear how each session delivered innovative solutions that the city could implement.
Representatives of the Florida Government Finance Officers’ Association (FGFOA) will provide an interactive discussion on “Open Government” and what government transparency means in the 21st Century when governments have different levels of resources to meet citizen expectations in this day of social media and technological collaboration. Presenters from the Pinellas County Clerk of the Court and Wellington will share lessons learned in moving their organizations toward open government platforms, including the citizen engagement pieces and the internal and external organizational culture changes necessary to succeed in transparency.
