The City of Rockledge recently honored Jim McKnight’s (Rockledge City Manager) family by unveiling the McKnight Family Sports Complex.
This recreation complex includes a baseball field, softball fields, a football field, a 1.2 mile nine-station jogging/exercise trail, 12 lighted tennis courts, two racquetball courts, soccer fields, playground and picnic pavilion.
Jim McKnight’s father, Mac was part of a group that built the first Little League baseball field in Rockledge at McLarty Park in the early 1960s. The family was very involved in baseball from players, coaches and team mom.
Jim was selected to the First Team All State Baseball Team by the FHSSWA in 1973 and 1974 and the first baseball player from Brevard County to ever be selected to play in the State All-Star game (1974).
He also was selected as Space Coast Player of the Year in 1974, beating out Clint Hurdle (current Manager of the MLB Pittsburgh Pirates).
Jim has served as city manager since 1986 and is the second-most tenured city manager in Florida.
