The North Florida Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration is currently accepting nominations for its 2013 Public Service Awards of Excellence. These awards will be given in three categories honoring individuals for their outstanding achievements.
The 2013 Public Service Awards of Excellence will be presented to three individuals currently serving in the public or not-for-profit sector, or, whose previous work was predominantly within either the public or not-for-profit sector.
(1) The Leadership Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has achieved executive leadership status while providing vision and direction for an organization with the prospect of transforming organizational structure over a period of a minimum of two years.
[Examples of this category for recognition are: Elected Officials, Agency Heads, Local Government Administrators, CEO’s, GS-15 and above]
(2) The Management Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has consistently provided effective management and maintained high personal and professional ethical standards within the past two years.
[Examples of this category for recognition are: Department or Division Directors, Assistant Director, Bureau Chief, GS-9 – GS-14]
(3) The Exemplary Service Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution on a sustained basis for five years or more and whose work ethics and contributions would usually be unknown outside his/her work group or organization.
[Examples of this category for recognition are: Career Service employees, non-exempt, typically behind the scene employees, GS-5 – GS-8]
Public service award nominees may be from any level of government, academia, or the private not-for-profit sector and may include elected officials. Members of the Awards Committee are not eligible for nomination.
The deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Nominations received after the deadline may not be considered.
