On August 7, 2018, FCCMA District VII Director Matthew Campbell, Town Manager, Town of Kenneth City, presented the City of Ocala with the ICMA Recognition Award in celebration of their 100th anniversary of the council-manager form of government. As mentioned at the presentation, Ocala is the second oldest council-manager government in the state with 100 years, preceded by Largo with 105 years.
