The FCCMA Board unanimously approved an exciting new program for MITs at their November 6. 2015 meeting. It is called” “JIT for MIT.”
Over the years, MITs have been employed in primarily public sector interim jobs wherever they could find them. Many, though, have struggled to find that “right” job that relieved some of the pressure of transition.
The mission of JIT for MIT is to form a more organized structure to facilitate a quicker response process to find interim employment for MIT. Eligibility for this program will be for both ICMA and FCCMA Registered MITs who are full members of FCCMA. The objective is to form a consortium of public/private sector businesses and contacts to quickly match MIT and their skill set with a particular business.
The recruitment for Business Partners started in January and the program was introduced at the recent Winter Institute of the FCCMA. Our first two Business Partners are Government Services Group and ST Services. We really appreciate their support and willingness to work with us to make JIT for MIT an ongoing success. The Senior Advisors are actively recruiting four to six other Business Partners.
In addition, we have our first two volunteers from the public sector in Pam Brangaccio, City Manager, New Smyrna Beach and Lee Feldman, City Manager, Fort Lauderdale, who both also happen to be former Lifeline Award recipients. We encourage any other managers to volunteer to be Business Partners in this program to provide support to MIT.
The Senior Advisor Program will be coordinating this effort. Please call/email Craig Hunter at chunt@tampabay.rr.com or 727-698-4341 or Kurt Bressner at Kbressner@gmail.com or 561-436-2328 if you have any questions or concerns.
