June marks a changing of the guard each year for FCCMA. At our annual conference we swear in a new President, Executive Committee and Board of Directors. This is my last article as your Association President and I’ll spend it thanking those who’ve helped make FCCMA a better association going forward. First, I’ll thank the staff, always a great place to start. Casey Cook, Carol Russell and Linda Bridges have spent another year making myself, the Executive Committee and the Board look great and for this we are all great. They make this organization hum. Next, I’ll thank our members who volunteered to serve on committees as members, vice chairs and chairs. The committees are where the work of the Association is done, and our committees have served us well again this past year. Member involvement is vital to our success and this year our members did not disappoint with their service and their passion for our profession.
Your Board of Directors works very hard to be sure the Association is headed in the right direction and that your membership has value. I applaud the work the Board did this year on your behalf. Everyone worked diligently to play a part and make sure we covered the bases for you, our members. If you see a board member, please thank them for their service to FCCMA. It has a great amount of value for us all. Jim Hanson has served the organization for quite a few years. In his role as immediate past president Jim has been a trusted advisor and a wealth of wisdom and I’m forever grateful to him. Shannon Lewis, your new President, will take the organization to a higher level and all I ask is that we all support her the way everyone supported me. Micah Maxwell is your President-Elect and will plan next year’s conference with the help of a very able Conference Planning Committee. Horace McHugh is joining the Executive Committee as Secretary/Treasurer and he will continue to serve the organization as he has for years.
It’s our members that make us great. When I became President, I said my only goal was to increase participation and membership in FCCMA. I believe I have accomplished both and I feel like our organization is well positioned and well served by our leadership going forward. We do great things in Florida as Professional Managers and our collective effort to support one another is the foundation of FCCMA. FCCMA is well positioned going forward and for this I thank all of you who make this organization I have had the honor and privilege of serving just that much better year after year.
