Greetings FCCMA members and let me wish all of you a great and hurricane free summer! Much is going on with FCCMA, our committees are in action, doing the business of our organization. Your Board of Directors is also busy, developing the training schedule for your districts preparing for our long slate of yearly activities including this year’s Fall Symposium. Don’t miss the Fall Symposium, it will focus on Cyber Security, a threat to us all.
Recently, former FCCMA President Craig Hunter resigned his position as senior advisor. We are sad to lose his expertise, but certainly understand the desire to step away from the obligations and responsibilities of this position. Craig has been an excellent resource for many Florida cities and counties in his role as senior advisor and we cannot thank him enough for his continued commitment to FCCMA. On behalf of the FCCMA Board and Membership, we wish Craig and his wife, Dianne, the very best and hope we will see them from time-to-time in the future.
Senior Advisors are vital to our success as an organization. Our ten Senior Advisors are retired city and county managers with lengthy experience in local government management, who are respected within the public management field. As volunteers, Senior Advisors provide, at no cost: career and employment counsel to members; guidance and counsel to members regarding ethics questions or concerns; assistance to cities and counties with the managerial form of government; assistance to cities and counties that are considering adopting the managerial form of government; assistance to civic groups regarding the managerial form of government; and assistant to members-in-transition (MITs) with guidance and direction as they seek new opportunities in public administration. Please contact FCCMA staff or Senior Advisor Coordinator Oel Wingo if you or your local government needs the assistance of a senior advisor. Visit the FCCMA website to read more about our talented Senior Advisors. Our Senior Advisors are only a phone call away and ready to assist us with all the talents they have developed serving Cities and Counties for so long.
Please enjoy what’s left of our summer. Make time for the things in your life that matter to you, matter to your family and to those you love. The Fall Symposium is just around the corner. The Winter Institute will be here before you know it and we have a dedicated and talented group of committee members already planning next year’s conference. Thank you for your service to our Cities and to helping make FCCMA great.
