What an awesome conference! Hats off to the FCCMA host committee for an outstanding job in planning the 2015 FCCMA Winter Institute, and of course to the FCCMA staff for all their hard work. From the welcome by ABC News to the closing presentation by Ian Hill, the theme, “Have you seen today’s forecast for your city/county” was orchestrated. Mark Durbin, Senior Advisor to FCCMA, gave a phenomenal speech on Servant Leadership during the Inspirational Breakfast. Mark is truly an asset to the FCCMA and brings vast knowledge and leadership skills. It is not only a great time to fellowship with colleagues, but a time to share challenges and opportunities that we all are or will face regardless of location and population. It was especially exciting to have presenters from Polk County and T. Michael definitely did an outstanding job of moderating the conference, making sure we stayed on task. Having presenters from various areas of the State, both large and small, offer expertise and diverse insight on issues for Florida’s communities to evaluate the actions and strategies forecasted for the future. The panel discussions highlighted some of the more important challenges our communities face today, especially issues relating to growth and water. In closing, Ian Hill stated that it is honorable and noble to be a public servant.
