On August 15th, Howard D. “Tip” Tipton was awarded the inaugural Raymond C. Sittig Distinguished Public Service Award from the Florida League of Cities at its annual conference. This award was named in honor of Raymond “Ray” C. Sittig, executive director emeritus for the League, where he served from 1959 until his death in 2012. FCCMA is proud of Mr. Tipton as he represents the best of professional management and exemplifies FCCMA’s purpose.
Mr. Tipton was the FCCMA president during Program Year 1986-87, while he was the city manager of Daytona Beach. He also served the FCCMA on the Florida League of Cities’ Board of Directors in the ex-officio seat for several terms and as an ICMA-FCCMA range rider for several years.
“For nearly 40 years, Tip has shared his expertise, his experience, his vision, his commitment to ethics and excellence with Florida’s city governments and with the local public management,” said Florida League of Cities President and Pensacola Councilman P.C. Wu. “Florida is a better state for his service, and our cities are better for his service.”
