There are two onsite training sessions scheduled to be held in January.
The first session will be held January 10, 2014 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Largo Community Center, 400 Alternate Keene Road, Suite 1, Largo, Florida. In this session, ICMA’s Director of Ethics and Advocacy, Martha Perego, has agreed to facilitate a discussion on today’s application of the ICMA Code of Ethics. Much has been debated about how best to apply certain ethical provisions to a manager’s daily life. Martha Perego is the noted expert on this topic given her daily engagement with managers from around the country who are challenged with ethical questions. FCCMA members from around the state are encouraged to attend this important certain-to-be-engaging and informative session. The ICMA Practice Area covered is 17: Integrity.
The second session will be held January 24, 2014 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Osceola Board of County Commission Chambers, 1 Courthouse Square, Suite 4700, Kissimmee, FL 34741. The speakers for this session are: Bonita Springs City Manager Carl Schwing, Brevard County Manager Howard Tipton, and Osceola Library Services Manager Dave Barnett
The great recession is behind us…but the demand for services and the challenges to responsibly fund these services has never been greater. The terms “outsourcing” and “consolidating” create both positive and negative images depending upon one’s experience. This FCCMA training session will examine both terms from a “practical” perspective. Session attendees will hear lessons learned from city and county professionals and will be asked to share their own stories and experiences with others in attendance. In addition, current practices, constraints, and useful templates will be provided. This is a must-attend session for anyone considering outsourcing or consolidation in the coming year.
The cost to attend is $49 which includes lunch. For registration information, go to: https://fccma.org/onsite-training/.
