I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida. I have a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Central Florida. I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Florida City and County Management from Florida State University through the Center for Florida Local Government Excellence.
How did you become interested in public service?
I first became interested in local government when I served as student mayor for the City of Coral Springs Student Advisory Council. The student advisory council served to recommend projects and policies pertaining to students and teens to the city commission. I had the opportunity to learn from the city manager and various department directors about their role in city government. I became even more interested in local government through my internships with the City of Coconut Creek, Alachua County, and the City of Casselberry.
What is your current occupation?
Executive Assistant to the City Manager, City of Margate, FL
Please give a brief job description.
My responsibilities include project management, research and analysis, and general assistance in the day-to-day operations of the City of Margate.
Please describe your typical day.
Part of what I love about this profession is no two days are ever the same. My days include working on special projects and assisting constituents with any issues or concerns.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is also my favorite part of this career; being able to make a difference in the community and enhance the lives of our residents and business owners. I enjoy the challenge of speaking with residents and/or business owners that may be upset about something and working with them to achieve a solution. I thoroughly enjoy renewing trust and fostering a positive relationship between residents/businesses and their city.
What is your least favorite part of the job?
Sometimes despite working through a situation with a resident or business owner, a solution may not be satisfactory.
What are your hobbies/interest?
I enjoy being in the South Florida sun, Florida Gators sports, and spending time with my family and friends.
