As everyone knows, FCCMA members love a good competition. This year’s Friday night social was designed around a competition among the eight districts.
The evening began with an icebreaker. The attendees were each given a paper with squares filled with various questions. The competitors needed to find someone who had completed the activity on the square and sign his/her name. The first person to complete all the squares won.
Then the districts competed in a corn hole game. The competitors were divided into groups of two to compete against each other. The winners of each section then competed against each other until there were only two people left. Michelle Tipton and Shawn Sherrouse competed in the final corn toss with Shawn Sherrouse finishing as the winner.
Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Each district had one participant who competed until there were only two left. Our future city managers, Nicholas Pleus, son of Michael and Vicky, and Liam Reade, son of Rich and Tina, were in the finals. Nicholas Pleus finally won with the question, “What is the person called who studies fossils.” Both boys did a great job.
The final competition was a karaoke contest. Thank you to everyone who was willing to get up there and sing. All of them did a great job. Deric Feacher won that round for District 8.
District 8 was the winning district and they decided to donate the money to the Polk Education Foundation. Congratulations District 8!
The Conference Planning Committee would welcome ideas for next year’s event. Conference will be back at the Hilton Orlando from May 28-31.
