The opportunity to influence the quality of life for my community’s citizens.

What are hobbies/interests?
Birding, biking, kayaking and travel.
If you could give one piece of advice to young people interested in a career in public service, what would it be?
To intern.
Who were your mentors and how have you passed this information down to other young public administrators?
The City Managers I have interned for have been my mentors. I have taught Public Administration courses at the Graduate and Undergraduate level as an adjunct professor and provide internships whenever possible. I have served as advisor to several graduate students completing their thesis.
Have you always been in the public sector or have you had experience in the private sector?
I find this rhetoric contributes to the friction between segments of the economy, especially at a time when we should all be working collectively rather than placing labels on persons or professions.
What career would you pick if you were to pick another?
I would not select another career.
