On Friday, January 26th the FCCMA Student Council Sub-Committee attended the Osprey Career Fair held at the University of North Florida with participation from (Left to Right) Auburndale Assistant City Manager Jeff Tillman, Orange Park Town Manager Sarah Campbell, FCCMA President Jim Hanson, Green Cove Springs Assistant City Manager Mike Null.
The Student Council Sub-Committee is pleased to report on the activities of this event and FCCMA’s outreach efforts. The event was attended by over 400 students in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Almost 70 employers from a variety of professions were able to interact with these students giving FCCMA the chance to share opportunities in local government through internships, part-time and/or full-time employment.
We shared with attendees the importance of local government management, FCCMA as an organization and were able to show students the FCCMA job board with open positions throughout the state. Many of the students, all with great qualifications and eager to work, were both wanting to learn about our organization and expressed interest in careers in local government.
Based on those exchanges, we felt that many students got a better understanding of local government and will continue to seek opportunities in local government management and even land a job!
