This is the last article in a series of articles about the FCCMA committees. Be a part of the great work that FCCMA does through its committees by signing up for a committee that interests you. This committee still needs another member. Most committee work is done via conference call.
The Professional Development Committee is a very active committee. It will ensure that FCCMA continues as the pre-imminent professional local government advocate and personal development organization for Florida’s cities and counties.
This committee will work the executive director of CFLGE to develop the annual training calendar.
This committee is in charge of two sessions at the Annual Conference. A subcommittee will form to design and plan the So You Want to be Conference Session and pick the topic and speaker for the Career Development Luncheon. Both the So You Want to be session and the Career Development Luncheon will be done with the consult of the Conference Planning Committee.
Another subcommittee will form to design and plan the fall symposium. This work will need to be done by mid-August so that staff can prepare registration and advertising material for the symposium. The symposium will be held November 20 at the Peggy Brown Center in Lakeland.
A third subcommittee will work with the Center for Florida Local Government Excellence (CFLGE) to sustain and broaden the impact of CFLGE as a primary statewide organization supporting local government professionals by continuing personal growth and development. In collaboration with the CFLGE this subcommittee will plan the phone panels and webinars taking care to address the four life cycles of a manager.
At the November Board of Directors’ meeting, the Board established a policy for annual ethics training. This committee will refine and launch the on-line Ethics training course to help FCCMA members to acquire the required ethics training.
