The Florida Redevelopment Agency is proud to offer the Redevelopment Academy, a certification program designed to promote a prerequisite level of knowledge and professionalism in the field of redevelopment. Click on the link below for application and registration information. The courses are open to anyone interested in learning more about redevelopment practice in Florida. Depending on your status in the practice field (CRA director, consultant, vendor, attorney, citizen, board member, etc.), there are two types of designations – “administrator” or “professional”. However, only FRA members in good standing are eligible for either designation through the academy.
If you are a new candidate for the academy series resulting in a “FCRA” (Florida Certified Redevelopment Administrator) or “FCRP” (Florida Certified Redevelopment Professional) designation, fill out the general academy application and submit all required documents at least one month prior to the course date. If you would like to register and pay for a course pending your acceptance as a candidate, you may apply and register at the same time. Please be sure to read all the information in the application, sign the code form and submit the application form to Jan Piland, at jpiland@flcities.com or FAX to her at 850-222-3806.
If you have already been accepted into the academy, and you want to register for a course, please fill out and send in the registration form for that course with payment.
Five courses are required for graduation. To date we have developed three courses core courses, i.e. they must be taken to graduate: Redevelopment 101, Budgeting, Funding and Reporting, and Operations and Capacity Building. The other two courses (we intend to add more courses, online capability, and continuing education credits as budgets allow) are: Redevelopment Real Estate and Incentives.
We offer these five courses throughout the year, at different locations, which will be posted on this page as they are planned. Each course is typically from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., not including the test. We will notify you immediately upon acceptance into the academy, by letter in an email. We will also send you a link that allows access to the course study guide (and or a hard copy) no later than two weeks prior to each course. Computers may or may not be allowed for use during the course. A test is given at the end of the day, and usually takes about one hour. Test scores are emailed to each participant within the month.
We hold annual graduation ceremonies at our annual conference in October, and each candidate receives an official certificate with the official FCRA or FCRP designation.
