We are two weeks into a new year – so a belated Happy New Year to all members! It is a busy start here in Tallahassee, as I am sure it is for you. The FCCMA begins this year with a very active training calendar through the Center for Florida Local Government Excellence (CFLGE) – I encourage you to look at the on-site trainings being held across the state. We’re also looking forward to the Winter Institute in February, which is sold out. The annual conference (May 22 to 25) is getting closer, so please mark your calendars and plan to attend! Last fall I issued a challenge to members who haven’t yet signed up for the ICMA Credentialed Manager process – have you taken a look at this yet? We hope to increase our numbers and regain the national ‘title’ of having the most credentialed professionals within any state! ICMA is holding “The Future of Credentialing” webinar on January 24 at 1:00, Eastern. Sign-in information and other details will be provided in a future newsletter.
The Association’s committees are hard at work with their various projects, too; there are always projects in the local public management profession. I want to express my appreciation to the officers and board of directors, and to the committee members, for their hard work since last summer – hard to believe that we are more than half-way through the program year! The Legislature’s committees are also at work; session begins March 5. In next week’s news update, we’ll have more to say about the importance of advocacy. Please let us know how FCCMA can assist you – we look forward to hearing from you.
